Kum Nye Teacher Training Program Testimonials
From Nyingma Institute 2023-2024 KNTT Level 1 Graduates
I had been practising Kum Nye for more than twenty years and was already authorized to teach when I began the 2023- 24 Level 1 Kum Nye Teacher Training offered by the Nyingma Institute.
It surpassed my expectations; presented with such care and thoroughness by the Nyingma faculty, with an emphasis on ongoing study and community, it felt like the beginning of a new era for the transmission of Kum Nye, and I feel privileged to have been part of it. May Kum Nye live long in the hearts & minds of ever-growing numbers of beings!
– Matt Padwick, Ireland
Participating in the Kum Nye Teacher Training Programme has been a wonderfully beneficial and life changing year. These rich Kum Nye teachings have been generously shared by the course tutors, themselves practitioners with years of experience. The teaching, study and practice timetable has been delivered in a very well-structured course with a wealth of resources. Hours of live classes throughout the year have connected us with our fellow students around the world, and given us our own inner experience of the benefits of regular Kum Nye. I feel well equipped for life long study and look forward to sharing classes near me soon

I took this 11-month Kum Nye teacher training knowing very little prior to the start of the training about this style of Tibetan Yoga. Over the 11 months, I gained so much more than I could have ever imagined–not only were the teachers exceptional at guiding us through very gentle yet profoundly deep and relaxing sequences, but each of the class assignments were carefully scaffolded so that by the end of the training I felt very confident to go out and teach my own classes. I would highly recommend this program to both beginning and advanced students of Kum Nye who feel a calling to step into the role of a Kum Nye teacher under the guidance and careful supervision of an excellent team of teachers. You can trust that you are in good hands.

The Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga teacher training at Nyingma Institute Berkeley was truly a transformative experience for me. The course was well-rounded, and the instructors were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. We quickly became a genuine community. I can’t recommend this program enough to anyone wanting to deepen their practice and become a qualified Kum Nye teacher.

Having just graduated, I am so full of gratitude for Tarthang Tulku and the Nyingma Institute for creating such a beautifully orchestrated and comprehensive Kum Nye Teacher Training course.
I loved the variety and delivery imparted by all of the extremely knowledgeable teachers.
My only regret is missing some of the 2-3am live US zoom sessions as they made me feel complete.
Looking forward to sharing Kum Nye with the world with Love, Joy and Gratitude.

I am so grateful for the Kum Nye Teacher training. Kum Nye has given me a deeper understanding of myself, my mind and body and the world. Thanks to Kum Nye, I have overcome many of my fears and found an inherent power that allows me to feel present – with my potential, with greater clarity and with my heart.
I would like to thank Tarthang Tulku from the bottom of my heart for the (further) development of Kum Nye, for the comprehensive exercises that go so deep. On the one hand, they bring life patterns to the surface and at the same time they lead to healing and uncover potential, and this in so many different ways.
I would also like to thank all the Kum Nye teachers for their wonderful work and guidance. I felt so much passion at all times, so much knowledge was imparted to us and we were accompanied with such warmth – wonderful.
There were weekly courses, monthly workshops, mentors who accompanied us throughout the training and even now. I felt very supported, also in immersing myself fully in the training process. Through the intensity of the training, I experienced Kum Nye even more deeply and allowed it to penetrate mind and body. I think I can say, Kum Nye has become the spiritual foundation of my life.

I had been practicing Kum Nye for three years before I started the Teacher Training Certification Program through the Nyingma Institute. I am so grateful to have found this training and learned so much more than I could have imagined. The teachers and the content made this experience incredibly rich with insight and learning. Through their dedication, skill and thoughtfulness in a well planned and executed training, the care and keeping of their students was evident from day one and profoundly felt throughout. The classes, workshops and coursework brought to life abstract concepts that began to feel grounded and familiar by the end. The closing of our time together was bittersweet but I know that the teachers/mentors remain available to all of us as we have fledged upon our separate journeys.

Attending the Kum Nye Teacher Training course has been a fascinating journey. The course content was outstanding, offering an in-depth exploration of Kum Nye that exceeded my expectations. The teachers were thorough and knowledgeable, providing insights and guidance that enriched my learning experience.
I must also extend my heartfelt thanks to my mentor, Jonathan, whose support was invaluable. His encouragement and expertise have been, and continue to be, invaluable on my Kum Nye journey.
I am genuinely impressed by the breadth and depth of the topics covered. The comprehensive approach has left me feeling well-equipped and inspired to continue my practice and share with others. I look forward to revising and deepening my understanding of the entire course over the next year.
Thank you to everyone involved for creating such a wonderful course.

Doing the Kum Nye Teacher Training has been really special for me for many reasons. It has deepened my understanding of Kum Nye as well as my ability to contact rich feelings and experiences through Kum Nye. It has also given me the ability to learn from authentic instructors and receive helpful and direct feedback. I have also been really inspired by all of the projects that were presented by the fellow students–all of whom are using Kum Nye in incredibly interesting ways. All in all, I am happy to see Kum Nye being spread far and wide by this teacher training, and I’m excited to see the ways it can benefit the world.

The Nyingma Institute’s Kum Nye Teacher Training programme was absolutely life changing and quite simply one of the most thorough and comprehensive online education experiences I’ve ever taken part in. We were supported by seven seasoned instructors, with classes running weekly in both US and UK time zones. We also had access to a wonderful online hub of written material including a forum, all of which meant I didn’t just qualify as a Kum Nye instructor, I became part of an exciting global community of practitioners. The icing on the cake was being invited to attend an in-person final retreat at the stunning Ratna Ling Retreat Centre in California. A truly magnificent year, I now feel more than ready to share these sacred teachings with others around the world.

I highly recommend the Nyingma Institute’s Kum Nye Teacher Training program. This training is life-affirming and transformative. I am grateful to Tarthang Tulku for this system and for the deep nourishment of the practice. Between the skilled teachers and the wonderful international community cohort, this year-long teacher training is a treasure. I have made connections with life-long friends and mentors and gained the confidence and motivation to faithfully share Kum Nye with others. If you are eager to deepen your Kum Nye practice and to teach so that others may experience its healing benefits, then consider this training.

I came to the Kum Nye Teacher Training programme at the Nyingma Institute, Berkeley, somewhat serendipitously. But it was only upon meeting two of the course instructors in person, Donna Morton and Abbe Blum, that I knew it was meant to be: not in two years’ time nor in four years’ time, but rather now. And how glad I am that I took the leap of faith to go on a journey of what I can only describe as self-discovery. For Kum Nye is a journey of coming home. And what better guides to bring you home than Donna, Abbe, Santosh, Jonathan, Bram and Angela. From a space of sheer selflessness — indeed, an altruism innate to the practice — they nurtured every single student’s trajectory on the not always straightforward path of Kum Nye. For me, the course instructors seemed to embody Tarthang Tulku’s teachings. And Tarthang Tulku’s teachings are, well, immeasurable treasures to behold. So, if you like me have come across the Teacher Training programme somewhat serendipitously, please trust that is (most probably) meant to be. And may I begin by saying: “Welcome home!”

Tarthang Tulku’s books have been deeply meaningful in my life and this is how I first contacted the profound practice of Kum Nye, a decade ago. However, there were not many classes available to explore this practice near me, therefore, I was thrilled to see the Nyingma Institute in Berkeley, CA, offering a virtual Level 1 Teacher Training. The infrastructure of the program is seamless and thorough, and I have a treasure trove of Kum Nye resources that I will utilize for the rest of this incarnation. The teachers are obviously steeped in and devoted to the practices they share and guide with authentic open hearts, minds, and much joy and care. In particular, having a mentor for the program, as a touchstone, was such a gift – and this allowed me to grow in ways I hadn’t expected. The element of community is a pillar in this training and these connections will continue into the future. I am immensely grateful for this course and now is the time for a greater dissemination of Kum Nye throughout the world, to benefit and touch numerous beings! It’s an honor to be a part of this mandala and I cannot recommend this course enough!

I found out about the program very last minute, and had just a bit of experience with Kum Nye beforehand, and I feel so fortunate now to have encountered Kum Nye and had the privilege to be a part of the Kum Nye Teacher Training program. It is so well organized, crafted and cared for, and the teachers were so kind and generous with their instruction, availability and support throughout. I’m deeply grateful for the experience and would recommend it to anyone just as highly as my friend (who was in the first KNTT cohort) recommended it to me.

I’m deeply grateful for the Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga teacher training at the Nyingma Institute. This year has brought its share of personal and professional challenges, and I truly believe that practicing Kum Nye with the support from the Kum Nye Teacher Training community has been instrumental in keeping me grounded. The teachers are not only authentic and experienced practitioners with a rare ability to teach these practices, but they also possess hearts of gold and genuinely care about the well-being of all their students. I especially valued the one-on-one mentorship, and I am particularly thankful for Abbe’s kind support and guidance throughout the year. Her encouragement has been vital in building my confidence in Kum Nye practice, teaching abilities, and my future role as a bridge between Eastern and Western cultures. I highly recommend the Kum Nye Teacher Training to anyone looking to deepen their practice and become a qualified Kum Nye teacher.
